FiiWA Ball

Players can use the 10" FiiWA Ball by itself (for example: to play catch or create music through manipulating its position through space) or with the rest of the equipment. The foam ball is soft enough to prevent harm if it hits a player in the face, but is heavy enough to throw a long distance. The textured surface helps players to gain a firm grasp and overall better control of the ball. The lights on the ball help players with low vision more easily distinguish the ball’s position in space.
The uninterrupted harmonious tones emanating from the FiiWA Ball aurally alert players to its location, motion status and speed of movement. While stationary, the ball emits a constant low tone. The tone’s pitch increases as the ball moves faster, produces the penultimate high note when airborne, and reaches its highest note when it hits a surface such as a wall, the floor or another player. The lights work in a similar way, moving around the ball in accordance to the ball’s speed and changing from blue-green to red when airborne.
